Professional Licensure Disclosures

In compliance with 34 C.F.R § 668.43(a)(5)(v), San Juan College has researched whether a particular program meets educational requirements for professional licensure outside the State of New Mexico. See the list below of the professional licensure programs offered at San Juan College for specific information.

Licensure boards in each state are responsible for establishing the requirements for licensure for their particular state. Students who are located or intend to locate in any state other than New Mexico need to review the professional licensure disclosures pertaining to their program and consult with the state professional licensing board. The state professional licensing boards make the ultimate decision as to whether or not an individual will be eligible for licensure based on the rules and regulations in place at the time the individual submits their application for licensure. 

San Juan College shall not be held liable if the student is unable to qualify for licensure in any jurisdiction or cannot obtain a practicum/internship location.

Student location is determined when a student applies to San Juan College. Every semester, prior to registration, students are asked to update their contact information.

Alternative Teacher Licensure

San Juan College’s education program meets New Mexico state requirements for teacher licensure with a passing score on the New Mexico Praxis Assessment.

New Mexico participates in the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement (2020–2025), which facilitates educator licensure across all 50 states, Washington D.C., and the Department of Defense Education Activity.  Barber 

It has been determined that the San Juan College curriculum, consisting of 1,200 training hours, satisfies the educational requirements for obtaining a Barber license or certification in the states listed below. Cosmetology 

It has been determined that the San Juan College curriculum, consisting of 1,600 training hours, satisfies the educational requirements for obtaining a Cosmetology license or certification in the states listed below. Dental Hygiene

The San Juan College Program in Dental Hygiene is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and has been granted the accreditation status of approval without reporting requirements. It has been determined that a graduate from the Dental Hygiene Program at San Juan College meets the educational requirements to take the states' jurisprudence exam for licensure in the states listed below. EMS Program

It has been determined that San Juan College's CAAHEP accredited EMS program meets the educational requirements which allows graduates to take the National Registry of EMTs exam for licensure. The NREMT licensure allows reciprocal certification in all states listed below.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

All states do require a current state license to practice, as well as, a current BLS CPR certification. Renewed licensure is required every two years, for each state licensure and National Registry certifications. Esthetician

It has been determined that San Juan College curriculum of 600 training hours meets the minimum educational requirements to obtain a Esthetician license/certification for the states listed below. Fire Science

It has been determined that students completing the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress and Pro Board accredited Fire Science program to obtain a Fire Science degree/certificate meet the educational requirements for licensure for all states listed below that are accredited by IFSAC and Pro Board. It has been determined that San Juan College curriculum of 400 training hours meets the educational requirements to obtain a Manicurist license/certification for the states listed below. Nursing

Occupational Therapy Assistant

San Juan College’s Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE®). This means our program meets educational requirements for licensure in all 50 states, Washington D.C., Guam, and Puerto Rico. 

As a graduate of our ACOTE®-accredited program, you’ll be eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam and apply for licensure across the U.S.  Please note that some states may have additional requirements and retain the authority for final licensure determination. Physical Therapy Assistant

San Juan College’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), meeting the educational requirements for licensure in all 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It has been determined that graduates are eligible to take the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) and apply for state licensure in the states listed below. Respiratory Therapy

San Juan College’s A.A.S. in Respiratory Care is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and meets the educational requirements to sit for the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) exams. Graduates who pass the TMC and CSE exams are eligible for licensure as Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) in the states listed below. Surgical First Assist

The Surgical First Assistant Program at San Juan College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). It has been determined that the Surgical First Assistant Program meets the education requirements to allow graduates to take certification exams through the NBSTSA or NCCSA in the states listed below. Please note that final decisions for eligibility for testing are made by the NBSTSA and that some states require licensure in addition to certification. Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist Program at San Juan College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). This allows for graduates to sit for certification exams through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). It has been determined that San Juan College meets the educational requirements for states listed below that require certification. Veterinary Technician 

The Veterinary Technician Program at San Juan College is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). This qualifies graduates to sit for the VTNE exam in the states listed below.
