Safety through Community Learning Center
Take the first step toward safer riding with expert-led motorcycle safety training at SJC.
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider CourseSM teaches essential mental and physical skills for safe riding. With classroom and hands-on instruction, riders gain the tools they need for the road. Gear is required, and motorcycles are provided through the program. Register through NMMSP and ride smart from the start!
Safety Classes
The Basic RiderCourse (BRC) is designed for beginning riders, but experienced riders needing an endorsement are also welcome. The course includes two components: there is a 5-hour online course, titled ePackage 1, and two days of hands-on skills training using our motorcycles. Students do not need to register separately for the online eCourse; once registration is completed, a link will be automatically generated and emailed to them. Students are responsible for providing their own personal safety equipment, including a DOT-compliant helmet. A full list of gear requirements, along with additional course details, is available on the website’s FAQ page. Successful completion of the BRC qualifies students to receive a motorcycle endorsement in New Mexico.
Course fee:
$249 for students aged 18 and older
$100 for students 13-17 of age.
All students must have a driver’s license or state-issued ID to register.
For locations, schedules, and a full description of each class, please visit the NMMSP website at www.nm-msp.org. If all classes are listed as full, no seats are currently available. New classes are typically posted on the 1st or 2nd day of the month prior to the class month; for example, June classes would be posted and available for registration on May 1st or 2nd.
